Fireplace & Damper Repair in Tarzana and the San Fernando Valley
The firebox takes direct heat every time you light a fire. Over time firebrick cracks, mortar joints burn out and prefabricated units' refractory panels break. A damaged firebox lets heat reach places it shouldn't.
Dampers rust, warp and stick, and a damper that doesn't seal lets your heating and cooling escape up the flue all year. We repair or replace dampers, including top-sealing dampers that also keep out rain and animals.

Common questions
Why does my fireplace smoke?
Common causes are a dirty or blocked flue, a damper that doesn't open fully, a flue that is too short or too small for the fireplace, or a house that is so tight it pulls air down the chimney. We test for each one.
What is a top-sealing damper?
It's a damper mounted at the top of the flue that seals with a gasket. It closes tighter than an old throat damper and doubles as a cap.
Can you repair prefabricated fireplaces?
Yes. We replace refractory panels and check the unit, chimney pipe and cap.
